TRAVEL TO IN SITU TRAINING FACILITY
AIR TRAVEL
The closest airport to Chico is the Sacramento International Airport (SMF). The San Francisco Airport can also be utilized, but is much further. Unless you want to take a short trip (one that includes San Francisco), we recommend that you fly to Sacramento. Be sure to fly in the day before class. Avoid flying into Reno in the winter months, as travel from Reno to Chico involves 100 miles of driving in mountains and in snow.
CAR RENTAL
All rental car companies at Sacramento International Airport are located at the rental car terminal on airport property. The on-airport rental car shuttle arrives at designated stops on ground level curbs outside both terminals approximately every 10 minutes. The shuttle serves all on-airport rental car agencies listed on the rental car page. Rental car shuttles are assigned by terminal. Be sure to check the signs to make sure the shuttle you are on is going to the terminal you wish to go to.
Shuttle wait times may be longer during the airport’s peak hours: 4 – 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. – midnight.
Avis, Budget, Hertz and National offer vehicles for people with disabilities. Reservations for equipped vehicles must be made at least 48 to 72 hours in advance.
SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM SACRAMENTO AIRPORT
There is a daily shuttle service that runs between the Sacramento Airport and Chico for a reasonable price. These shuttles will drop you off in downtown Chico, where you can get UBER, or one of the many taxis to your hotel.
HOTELS
Chico has many of hotels to choose from during your stay. We recommend The Ramada Inn, The Best Western or the Motel 6— as they are all located very close to our training facility. We recommend The Ramada although most of the hotels in Chico are decent and clean. Beware of really cheap places. Do your homework here, or feel free to ask us and we’ll be happy to help you find a nice place.
THINGS TO DO
Your trip will be a short one, but downtown Chico is a great place to walk around and find some great cafe’s, bars and restaurants. Chico is very small (as far as cities go) so if you didn’t bring a car, UBER or taxis are a good way to get around.
